New At The Drugstore: The Nudes Palette by Maybelline

FINALLY! There is a big palette at the drugstore! Maybelline has come out with a new, 12 pan palette simply called, The Nudes. In this you will find all of your must have neutrals. From white to light brown to black, everything you need to create a neutral eye is here. Here she is in all of her glory!

The Nudes Palette by Maybelline $10
The first thing many of you probably think of when you see or think of this is the Naked palettes from Urban Decay. Now while the Naked palettes are better quality and much more pigmented, they are also $52. This one will only run you TEN bucks! So, for all of you on a budget or for you teens that can't afford the high end stuff (my mom would have shot it down in a heartbeat lol), this is perfect for you!

On the back you will find a pretty cool feature. Say you are a beginner and you don't know what shadow to use where, well there's a cheat sheet! You will find ways to use this as a quad, trio or duo. You can also go to Maybelline's website and they'll tell you where to put each shadow.

Top Row (No primer)

Bottom Row (No primer)

As you can see, the lighter the color the least amount of color payoff. The colors are build-able but it takes a lot more time. I have used this with primer and it does help the color show up a little more but not too much. None of the shadows are completely matte as they do have slight shimmer. The shimmer shadows do seem to show up much more than the matte/satin colors. The shades are very blend-able but the lighter colors come off a little chalky.

Overall, I really do enjoy this and I do recommend this for those of you that want staple shades in your collection.

Here is a more natural look I created this morning.

Perfect Palette Tag

Technically I wasn't personally tagged to do this, but tons of beauty gurus were like, "if you want to do it, I tag you." So I was like, I'M GAME! This was pretty hard to figure out though. I have a few items I love for each question, but I narrowed it down to one for each... OK, except for one. :)

1. Best Packaging: Urban Decay's Vice 2

Vice 2 is one of my favorite palettes overall! I am a sucker for Urban Decay and all of their packaging. In my opinion, no company does it better than them. I love the kinda watercolor/galaxy effect it has. I also love how it opens, all you have to do it push a button and OPEN SESAME! This one also comes with a gigantic mirror and a great brush! There really isn't anything I don't love about it.

2. Best Color Payoff: Shout out to Urban Decay! All 3 Naked Palettes!

Urban Decay does not disappoint when it comes to color payoff. Everyone of these palette's blend beautifully and the payoff is awesome! They are definitely worth the money and they last so long!

3. Most Versatile: Lorac Pro Palette

With 8 mattes and 8 shimmer/satins you can create practically any look you want. I love that there are so many neutrals and a few pops of color too. I almost didn't get it since I had Naked 1 and 2 but I am so happy I did! I use it so much! They also just came out with the Lorac Pro 2! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

4. Best for Traveling: Urban Decay Naked Basics

I think this is great for traveling mainly because of it's size. No, there aren't any blushes or anything like that but I am able to use Faint for my brows. You can use this for simple daytime looks or a nighttime smokey eye.

5. Biggest Regret: Urban Decay The Glinda Palette

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE this palette. The colors are gorgeous and I have used it. I don't even regret it that much (I got it for half off the regular price!). But I suppose if I have to choose one, this is it.

6. Best Color Names: Naked 2

With names like Half-baked, Tease and Pistol this palette definitely has some good names.

7. Least Used: Too Faced Joy to the Girls

I don't think I use this very much because of the color selection. I either have the colors in other palettes that I use more or I just don't really care for them. I'm not one to use a baby blue or super light pink. I will say that the LashGASM mascara that came with it is one of my favorites!

8. Most Used/Most Loved/Desert Island: Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Palette

I definitely use this one more than any other! The smell, the colors, the payoff, IT IS PERFECT! I recommend this one more than any other.

First Impressions: L'Oreal's Voluminous Miss Manga

Let me start off by saying that L'Oreal is my HOLY GRAIL brand for mascaras.  I love every single one in the Voluminous line. So, when I found out that there was a new one coming out I was STOKED and I had high hopes! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was. I finally found it at Wal-Mart for $5.99! (it retails for $7.99)

L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga

The brush is interesting. It's a cone shape but what's really cool is the wand itself, it rotates 360 degrees! When you apply the mascara you have a springy effect. The fact that it moves really helps get all up in there! You can really get to the root of your lashes and fan it out.

Here I am with nothing on my lashes.

Ignore the fact that I look dead, I just woke up. :)

I normally put on It Cosmetics Tightline mascara first but to really test this out I didn't this time. After one coat I look like this...

I wanted a little more so I applied two coats and this is what I got.

Not too much of a difference but I do really like it! You're suppose to end up with an anime type effect and it doesn't quite get you there. (Would any?) It does give great length and the volume is enough to make you look like you have more lashes. One thing that some people may not like it that it is a little clumpy. I think it has a lot to do with the brush considering the bristles are all different sizes. If you have a clean spooly, use that with this and it probably wouldn't clump the way it does. Also, it stays really good! I haven't had any problems with it flaking. I even rubbed my eyes earlier forgetting that it was there and it is still in great condition.

Overall, I think this is one of my new faves! The best to me is L'Oreal's Voluminous Butterfly. It's practically perfect and this one is a VERY close second. To make it short, if you see it in stores, snatch it up!

Easy Eye Look Using The Chocolate Bar Palette

Time for a tutorial! This is my first one so please bear with me. Here we go!

First things first you want to prime your eyelids. (I already filled in my brows with Anastasia Brow Powder Due in Caramel) This helps the shadow stick and stay all day. I use Urban Decay's Primer Potion.

Urban Decay's Primer Potion

Next, I highlighted my brow bone and above my brow using Milani's Brow and Eye Highlighter in Matte Beige/High Glow. I only used the matte end. I use my finger to blend it out.

Yes, I realize I look goofy! :)

Now we start with the eye shadow. With this look you only need two! I started in my crease with Salted Caramel and used windshield wiper motions. The brush I used was E.L.F.'s Eye Shadow Blending Brush, for just $1 it's fantastic!

Salted Caramel

Now using your ring finger, take Marzipan and pat it all over your lid. You want to use your ring finger because it is the weakest one. You can also use a shader brush. Then blend some more using the same brush you used in your crease.

Marzipan

Now take your favorite liquid liner and finish off with mascara. The liner I used was Maybelline's Line Stiletto Ultimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner. For mascara I used It Cosmetics Tightline and Benefit's They're Real. Then you're done! Here is the final look.

It's Electric! Boogie Woogie, Woogie!

Urban Decay has done it again with this ultra bright eye shadow pressed pigment palette. I can't be the only one who thinks of the "Electric Slide" when I hear the name! Electric it is! Now let me say that I am a neutral gal. I love my tans, browns, whites and blacks. But every now and again you want to stand out.

Urban Decay Electric Palette $49

This palette has 10 shades that are super bright. Two of the shades are repeats in Urban Decay's line, Revolt and Chaos. The other 8 are brand new! All shades have great color payoff and blend beautifully! Every shade is .04 oz and it also comes with a dual ended brush. The brush is very pretty, it is black with purple ends. I have used it multiple times and it works wonderfully.

Top Left to Right: Revolt, Gonzo, Slowburn, Savage, Fringe
Bottom Left to Right: Chaos, Jilted, Urban, Freak, Thrash

Revolt: Bright metallic silver shimmer with silver glitter. This is the only one I kinda have a problem with. It is a gorgeous metallic but the fall out is pretty bad. I have noticed that if I pat it on more than rub it on it does help. Just be sure to do your eyes before your foundation if you use this color.

Gonzo: Bright turquoise matte with floating tonal pearl.

Slowburn:  Bright red-orange matte with floating pearl. This color is a pain to get off! The payoff is awesome but it stains like crazy. This would be another one that you want to put on before foundation only because if you do have some fall out it will be a pain to fix.

Savage: Bright hot pink matte. Also stains like Slowburn but not nearly as bad. I also noticed that this is a little powdery.

Fringe: Bright metallic teal.

Chaos: Bright blue matte with floating tonal pearl.

Jilted: Bright metallic fuchsia with blue shift.

Urban: Bright metallic purple.

Freak: Bright green with gold shift.

Thrash: Bright lime green matte with floating gold pearl.

Left to right: Revolt, Gonzo, Slowburn, Savage, Fringe, Chaos, Jilted, Urban, Freak, Thrash.
I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion underneath every color.

Beware if you purchase this palette that there is a warning on the back that reads, "Warning: Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, and Urban are not intended for the immediate eye area." I have used all of them on my eye area given they are pigments and I didn't have any kind of problem. But I have heard some people say that Slowburn irritated them.

Overall I really love this! I think it is a fabulous palette and it is definitely something I would repurchase! Here is one look that I have created using Electric.

I used Chaos on my lid and lower lash line and Jilted in my crease. I blended the two together to create a purple in the middle. I wore it all day at work and through the night and it did not budge!
